Hungry for knowledge,
You were open.
Bending and braking,
Not broken.
Words like quicksilver,
Tare at your sole,
Brake down the walls,
Start to take hold.
Like water on glass,
Or slowly melting wax,
It’s all an illusion,
a toy, a game,
Everything they told you,
a lying refrain.
As the king of the jungle stalks it’s pray,
They fed on your emotions,
made you fade away.
You thought it was what you wanted,
No, what you needed, they said.
They replaced your opinions,
with theirs instead.
There’s a voice in the quiet,
A light in the dark.
A glimmer of hope,
Really more of a spark.
It tells you to be strong,
To never stop trying,
You’re stronger than their smoke,
You’re the fire they’re fighting.
